Cord Blood 101

Cord blood is a source of blood cell-forming (hematopoietic) stem cells with the ability to cure patients suffering from a wide range of life-threatening blood disorders. The stem cells in just one of our donated cord blood units (20mL or about 4 teaspoons) can engraft and grow to replace a patient's diseased bone marrow with new, healthy bone marrow. Our inventory of frozen donated cord blood is ready for use by any appropriately-matched patient, wherever and whenever they might need it.
